We take some time to ask our Resort Manager, Rachel about what makes a Christmas and New Year Holiday with Ski Verbier Exclusive so special.
Your Chalet Team
The best thing about having your own host and chef is that they do all the hard work whilst you just relax and enjoy spending quality time with your family and friends.
The chefs really excel in cooking a truly divine Christmas dinner, so that guests can sit back with a mug of mulled wine in front of the fire, children can open presents and play whilst the hosts make sure the chalet is suitably festive. Little touches such as the perfect playlist – refined or classic depending on your tastes, a hugely comforting roaring log fire and a delicious cocktail of your choice. All our chalets have beautiful real Christmas trees, twinkling with lights and adorned with decorations.
The menu can be designed to whatever meal you want. Is an indulgent classic turkey with all the trimmings your favourite or would you prefer to pick and choose all your favourite dishes and have that instead? Extra Christmassy afternoon teas from buttery homemade mince pies to spicy gingerbread biscuits and special desserts such as moreish chocolate log or the classic boozy Christmas pudding – you are welcome to decide.
What’s happening in resort around Christmas and New year?
Verbier is well known for its impressive Christmas tree twinkling in Place Centrale as well as beautifully decorated trees with large baubles around the town. Festive lamps showing skiers and ski lifts twirl delicately along the streets and the bakery windows are laden with decadent tarts, fruit studded loaves and festive cakes. If you want some traditional carols, the English-speaking Church has an Army Carol service at 6pm on 22nd December and for those who want more of a party atmosphere, there is live music and DJs is on most nights at classic institutions such as Farinet and Le Rouge.
Every year in resort, Place Centrale is filled by people to dance, party and count down to midnight! There’s a DJ too and the canton closes off access to vehicles. The sky is filled with fireworks and the bars and restaurants offer tickets to their special NY parties. New this year, La Nonna is offering (by reservation only) NYE tables on a raised platform just outside their restaurant – great for those who want to see the crowds go wild, the fireworks and the live DJ from Place Centrale. If you’re looking for a chic party with endless champagne and VIP table service – W Verbier, one of the most hip hotels in town, has a Heaven New Years Eve party while the legendary Farm Club will be celebrating in its famous 70s style. The chalets themselves often have a view of the fireworks, so after your scrumptious meal the host will ensure you are well stocked with champagne and drinks for you and your guests to see in the New Year in a more intimate fashion, in the comfort of your own home from home.
What do our team do to make sure you have a magical Christmas holiday?
If you have children in tow, we can arrange for Father Christmas to make an appearance in your chalet! As well as leaving the tell-tale evidence of ‘snowy’ footprints or a bite out of the carrot and mince pie left out the night before, the chef could even bake cookies for them to decorate and hang on the tree. We have all sorts of in-chalet touches to bring a bit of Christmas magic, as well as our SVE magic, to the chalets.
On top of ensuring the day itself is magical with a chef-led menu and your host pulling out all the stops – we can also organise fantastic events for the run up to Christmas to make the holiday even more special. From husky-sledging to a photo session with one of Verbier’s famous St Bernard dogs, we can plan your days for a perfect mix of skiing, dining and relaxation.
If you prefer to make the most of your chalet, we can supply soft blankets to curl up in while you sip your vin chaud or hot chocolate in the winter sunshine and consider who might be on the naughty or nice list. Or you can enjoy the sunset from the hot tub as you relax after your in-chalet massage. Movie nights with delicious popcorn and extra tasty toppings are always popular, as well as cheese or chocolate fondue, raclette or sushi nights. Games nights remain very popular with our guests who like nothing better than a special cosy night in with the family with some good natured competitive fun.
